The Denu Circuit Court has sentenced 40-year-old Ghanaian driver Amos Kojo Andrews, alias “Adebayo,” to five years in prison after convicting him of trafficking Nigerian women into Ghana under the guise of offering them employment.
According to reports, one of the victims was transported from Nigeria and was being taken to Côte d’Ivoire when she was informed that the supposed employment was actually prostitution.
The woman reportedly refused and was dropped off at Elubo, with arrangements made for her to return to Aflao.
During the journey back, a passenger overheard a suspicious phone conversation and raised the alarm, prompting investigations into the matter.
Investigators subsequently rescued another Nigerian woman from Andrews’ residence. She had also allegedly been recruited and trafficked under the pretext of securing employment.
The court is said to have convicted Andrews and sentenced him to five years in prison.
